Why donate?
The GRASS GIS project is a volunteer-based organization. There is of course
no cost to participate in the project or to use the software. But with our own
budget, we can produce even better software and documentation! And if you
don't have time to contribute, maybe a (small) donation makes you feel better
when using GRASS...
How does it work?
Your donation is managed through the Associazione italiana per l'informazione geografica libera (Italian OSGeo Chapter) which holds the donations in trust
for the GRASS GIS project. GRASS is a founding member of the
Open Source Geospatial
Foundation (OSGeo), an incorporated not-for-profit organization.
OSGeo is currently in the process of obtaining full
US 501(c)(3) legal status
as a not-profit entity.
How is the money used?
The donations are controlled in full transparency by the
GRASS Project Steering Committee
(PSC). We are organizing face-to-face coding sessions (such as in the
GRASS Community Sprint Prague 2011)
- financial support for developers may be paid to make participation possible.
Also bug fixing may be financed - community polls will identify outstanding
problems which cannot be fixed on a voluntary basis; or specific bug-bounties
can be arranged (please contact us first).
