Error Handling

The Perl mapscript module does not have an exception mechanism.  Errors
are best handled in the classic style by evaluating the return value of
a function in a true/false context:

    my $map = new mapscript\:\:mapObj('boundary.map') 
        or die('Unable to open mapfile.');
