We came up with some media partnership guidelines for Denver. One of the dilemmas was that a lot of "media partners" want free attendance at the conference, and we didn't want to commit to giving unlimited numbers of those away, and wanted to reserve them for people who we felt were going to give some real coverage to the event.

Matt Ball ran the media partner stuff for us. Here's a copy of one email response he gave to an inquiry:

Rachael,

Thanks for your inquiry about becoming a media partner at FOSS4G. I'm acting as a volunteer marketing and communications liaison, and following is the proposed media partnership arrangement that the committee came up with.

The FOSS4G event receives:
-  Banner ads in online magazine and e-newsletters for a minimum of two months
-  Posting of all event press releases as they are released
-  Event listing in calendar of events
-  Ongoing coverage of event highlights

Sponsor receives:
-  Logo as sponsor and link to site (from sponsor page)
-  Recognition as sponsor in publicity material for event (Preliminary Program, Final Program, signage)
-  A limited number of media passes are available, and are reserved for those committed to provide coverage of the event. If planning on attending, please express your interest, and the committee will confirm three months in advance

Please let me know if you would like to be a media sponsor, and if these terms meet with your approval. If so, please pass along details on your banners sizes and requirements.

Peter - Do you think Matt would volunteer to do this again?

Team - would we like a media organiser?
