Subject: v.in.ascii can't import vector files from v.out.ascii (GRASS 5.3)
Platform: GNU/Linux/i386
grass obtained from: Mirror of Trento site
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 5.7.0 (2004)
Hi, developers,
because of the lack of i.vpoints in 5.7 i used the v.out.ascii module in GRASS
5.7.
As a test i used v.in.ascii (5.7) and the result was ok.
But when i leave 5.7, switch to 5.3 and try to import the vector map with v.
in.ascii, run
v.build, v.display, then i get a drawing with thousands lines from the lower
left corner to
points
into the drawing. And so i cant see anything more. Probably there are also the
right vektor
linies between the points, but there are hidden.
Or is there anything i made wrong?
The best would be, i could use i.vpoints in 5.7, but thats another thing.
Thanks for help in advance,

you need to output from 5.7 with 'v.out.ascii -o' to get the old format.
maybe v.in.ascii in 5.3 should have a check to see if it is the newer version?

I'm closing this one and creating a wish for 5.4 according to what Hamish wrote:
