Subject: zoom broken in LL locations beyond poles

Platform: Mac OSX
grass obtained from: Trento Italy site
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 5.7cvs

When zooming/panning in lat-long locations, the window won't pan beyond the poles
(+-90 deg).

When using d.zoom it snaps the n/s extent to +-90 deg. When using v.digit zoom/pan
tools, it
says:

WARNING: G_set_window(): Illegal latitude for South/North

and does not zoom or pan at all.

Zoom/pan beyond 180 deg E/W works. In d.zoom it gives a polite warning and does
zoom/pan
(with wrapping around to the other side). Same with v.digit, just no warning.
Zoom/pan in projected locations works (with the same warnings in d.zoom).

This makes it nearly impossible to edit vectors at or near the poles. Display
works since it snaps to
+-90 deg, but it would be nice to have a margin.

William

Is this is still open? I saw a propably related fix-commit in CVS:
http://grass.itc.it/pipermail/grass-commit/2006-March/021025.html

Please let me know.

I haven't looked into this yet. It's on my list of things to check.
I've been holding off becuase I've seen lots of major changes in
v.digit and wasn't sure it would work at all.

Finally ahd a chance to check this. Current CVS 6.3 - still a
problem, though slightly different.

When panning north, I get the

WARNING: G_set_window(): Illegal latitude for North

and it does not pan.

When panning south, when the south limit is reached, I get:

WARNING: Fixing subtle input data rounding error of south boundary
	(-1.55893>2.38949e-07)

but it DOES pan, initially, though it doesn't pan as far as I
clicked. those numbers change as I pan farther south, but past a
certain point it stops panning with:

WARNING: G_set_window(): North must be north of South

and I can NOT pan at all in ANY direction. I must zoom to the
default extent to be able to pan again.
