Subject: cannot install cygwin GRASS on XP operating system

Platform: WindowsNT/2000/XP
grass obtained from: CVS
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 6.0.2 I believe

I downloaded the CD version of the cygwin from the web (today is may 21, 2006).
I had installed this on an NT operating system and it worked. I have an XP operating
system laptop and the installation did not work. I double click on grass61.bat
and nothing happens. Thanks for reading....I'd appreciate any advice...

I think I solved my own problem. Just wanted so share w/ y'all how I did it
in case someone else runs into a similar problem. I had chosen to install the
cygwin verson through the CD
(http://grass.itc.it/grass60/binary/mswindows/cygwin_grass.html,
then "install grass from CD"). My XP Windows, I believe, needed a new or
revised cygwin driver. So, I went to the web (www.cygwin.com), clicked on
setup and re-installed cygwin. This time, I could get my emulator to work but
GRASS would not. Here is what I also needed to do: The error message
said "cannot find pq.dll, re-installing GRASS may help". What I did instead
is to go to my c:\cygwin\bin directory (where I installed cygwin) and re-
named my cygpq.dll as pq.dll. Then, GRASS worked on my computer...

Good! Congrats.

Now I see your problem has been already "resolved" several times by others in
past - see the "resolved" section of bug tracker

search for pq.dll

Not using Cygwin myself it was not obvious for me at first.
