Subject: nviz don't start from the GUI

Platform: GNU/Linux/x86
grass obtained from: Trento Italy site
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries
GRASS Version: GRASS GIS Version 6.1.cvs

Please enter your name and error description here. Don't write general statements
such as "this could be better" - please explain in
details how a certain problem can be solved or a feature be added/improved. Send
different report for different problems. Thanks!

Name: Juan Carlos Torres

Version: I downloaded "version 6.0 (stable) for fedora core 4", but in fact the
rpm contains grass61 !

Error description: nviz and d.nviz don't start properly from the user interface.
It seems that the GUI call the command as if it has arguments, and so start directly
nviz with no map information.

I have solved the problem modifyng the file d.m.tcl

(at /usr/lib/grass-6.1.cvs/etc/dm/)

changing the calls to this command to term (instead of spawn)
(at lines 671 and 679).

Thanks

Where did you download it from exactly?

Using Grass 6.1 CVS 2006-02-20 for me nviz starts ok from d.m. But I confirm
d.nviz doesn't - it prints following error message to the terminal instead:
---

ERROR: Required parameter <input> not set:
    (Name of existing raster map).

ERROR: Required parameter <output> not set:
    (Name of output script).

ERROR: Required parameter <dist> not set:
(Camera layback distance (in map units)).

ERROR: Required parameter <ht> not set:
    (Camera height above terrain).

ERROR: Required parameter <frames> not set:
    (Number of frames).

---

Forwarding to Michael.

I think this is not a problem anymore--at least not on my maching and I
haven't heard any other reports. Is this fixed on your machine?

In gis.m all is OK. In d.m after pressing d.nviz icon still the following is
printed:

ERROR: Required parameter <input> not set:
    (Name of existing raster map).

ERROR: Required parameter <output> not set:
    (Name of output script).

ERROR: Required parameter <dist> not set:
(Camera layback distance (in map units)).

ERROR: Required parameter <ht> not set:
    (Camera height above terrain).

ERROR: Required parameter <frames> not set:
    (Number of frames).
