Subject: tcl/tk processes hang

Platform: GNU/Linux/i386
grass obtained from: Trento Italy site
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 5.0.2

Sometimes when I run zoom in on a map set or query a mapset with a mouse the
process "hangs".
I know this because I will try to run a command and the output window does not
pop up.
If I run a ps ax command I can see a process running for a command. When I kill
that process I can run the command that I had wanted to and a window pops up
with the following message:

invalid command ".d_what_rastbutton7"
while executing
$path configure -text Run -fg blue -activefourground blue

(procedure reader line 11)
invoked from within

"reader file5 .d_what_rastbutton7 (d.what.rast map=only) -1"

What is wrong?

Here is what I am running for tcl/tk
tcl-8.3.3-67
tclx-8.3-67
itcl-3.2-67
postgresql-tcl-7.2.3-5.73

I use redhat 7.3 with all the latest patches.

I have been clicking on the X to close a window. Maybe that is the problem.
I tried the right clicking recently. I stil had a hung window, but maybe I
clicked the X out of habit. It seems that I should be able to X out the
window and have the process die also. Maybe it is too difficult to do that,
and I should right click.

Ok, so you are using the TclTk menus to select Raster -> Analyze map -> Query
with mouse.

Then closing the module's command and output windows (by clicking the "X")
while the map is still waiting for a query-click, thus "abandoning the child".
You get the same effect by clicking "Quit" on the output window and
right-clicking "Quit" in the command window.

You still have a "crosshair" cursor left over on the display window, correct?
Right-click to quit the query will get you out.

I'm not really sure if there is a fix for this, or if it may even be desired
in some cases.
