grass obtained from: Other (CDROM etc)
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries
GRASS Version: 5.7

This application has failed to start because libX11.dll wqs not found. Re-installing
the application may fix this problem.

I did this may times but the result is the same.

Cygwin's XFree86 packages must be installed, and /usr/X11R6/bin (the
directory where libX11.dll resides) must be present in $PATH.

It was reported that this problem can be resolved by installing the Cygwin 
XFree86-lib-compat package. Does this work for you?
