Subject: glibc _2.3 not found

Platform: GNU/Linux/i386
grass obtained from: CVS
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries
GRASS Version: 5.0

Please enter error description here (and your name)
"

Installation:

1. get the large (32 mb) file
     grass5.0.X_linuxbin.tar.gz
which is the whole binary in a single file.
2. get the installation script
     grass5_i686-pc-linux-gnu_install.sh

Then you only need to type the following after
you downloaded it (example!):

  sh grass5_i686-pc-linux-gnu_install.sh grass5.0.0_linuxbin.tar.gz [dest_dir]
[bin_dir]

This will create the necessary directories and
files for you to run GRASS. The default install path is
/usr/local/grass5/

To install in a different directory, specify it in the
command line:

Usage:

  sh grass5_i686-pc-linux-gnu_install.sh grass_binpackage.tar.gz [dest_dir] [bin_dir]
with:
grass_binpackage : name of GRASS 5 binary package
[dest_dir] - optional: FULL path name to the installation directory
(default: /usr/local/grass5/)
[bin_dir] - optional: FULL path name to the grass binary directory
                     (default: /usr/local/bin/)
Notes: 1) Only the grass executable file is stored here
2) If you want to change the binary directory only
then you need to specify the destination
                               directory as well

You may need login as root for installation.

Example (changing the destdir, keeping the bindir):
  sh grass5_i686-pc-linux-gnu_install.sh grass5.0.0_linuxbin.tar.gz /opt/grass5
After installation start GRASS with

   grass5"
y es en este momento en que me marca lo siguinete:
"Starting GRASS...
 /usr/local/grass5/etc/set_data:/lib/i686/libc.so.6:`GLIBC_2.3´ not found(required
by /usr/local/grass5/etc/set_data)
 [root@server_lix grass5]# ERROR:LOCATION <</usr/local/grass5/<<UNKNOWN> >> not
available"
Utilizo red hat 7.2
Que puedo hacer?, Cual es el problema?.

Agradeceria mucho su apoyo.

Isaias.

Where did you get the 5.0.0 Linux binary distribution from? I don't see it on
the website, only 5.0.3. I would guess that it has been compiled on a version
of Red Hat Linux newer than 7.2 and is not compatible. You might have better
luck with the current 5.0.3 binary although I don't see any information on
what version/Linux distribution it was built on. Or else build GRASS
yourself. Which is not hard on Linux.

Probably the 5.0.3 binaries have been generated on
a more recent Linux system.

Try 5.3-CVS snapshot instead, it is generated on
Redhat 7.3 with GLIBC_2.1.3.
