Subject: Layers created with v.external have incorrect category index

Platform: GNU/Linux/x86
grass obtained from: Other (CDROM etc)
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries

It is possible to create a vector link using v.external (module says: "Successfully
finished"), but when trying to load the new theme into QGIS, I got the error
message "The layer is not a valid layer and cannot be added to the map" and -
within the command line of GRASS "GRASS_INFO_MESSAGE(26743,12): Using FID column
in OGR DB GRASS_INFO_END(26743,12) Invalid layer name, no underscore found: newe
added to the map"
Besides, there is no layer in the 'Layer' combobox of the dialog visible.
This issue is also mentioned on the qgis-user list [1].
Radim Blazek wrote in this context:
"Layers created with v.external have incorrect category index (probably in build_ogr.c)".
Regards,

Wolfgang

Hi,

I have just tried with a SHAPE file. It tells me
"key column FID not found in vector map ..."
However, there is not FID in SHAPE as far as I know.

Could you re-try with a PostGIS map? I made some
improvements recently on the FID/GID detection.
