Subject: r.sunmask does not compile properly under Irix 6.5

Platform: SGI/Irix
Xwindows version: Xfree 3.3.6
Xwindows manager: Enlightment
TclTk version: tcl/tk 8.3
grass downloaded at: Baylor site
grass binary for platform: I compiled the sources myself
grass sources source: no, I got a source code package from the server, 5.0.0pre2
c compiler name: gcc

r.sunmask appears to compile properly, except for a few warnings:

ld: WARNING 84: /usr/local/gisware/gis/grass/src/grass5.0.0pre2/src/libes/LIB.mips-sgi-irix6.5/libda
tetime.a
is not used for resolving any symbol.
ld: WARNING 84: /usr/gnu/lib/gcc-lib/mips-sgi-irix5.3/2.7.2.2/libgcc.a is not
used for resolving any symbol.
ld: WARNING 84: /usr/gnu/lib/gcc-lib/mips-sgi-irix5.3/2.7.2.2/libgcc.a is not
used for resolving any symbol.

These appear at the end of compilation. When run, r.sunmask returns "ERROR: program
'r.sunmask' cannot be executed because: Neither a command
line (cmd) or interactive (inter) version was found"

Thanks,
	Dave

Hi,

the ld WARNINGS are not errors, only warnings.
Please look in the file error.log if r.sunmask is listed there, this means
that it is not compiled due to some problem.

Please send the error message from compiling:
after compiling and installing, change to the directory of the code
(src/raster/r.sunmask), delete the OBJ.* directory, and issue gmake5 &>
error.msg. Mail the error.msg file (or a snippet that displays the problem).
HTH,

Andreas

The module does compile (with the warnings from ld), and does produce an
excecutable file. There were no other compiler warnings or errors that
might indicate a problem compiling.
The binary file, when run, returns the error message
"ERROR: program 'r.sunmask' cannot be executed because: Neither a command
line (cmd) or interactive (inter) version was found", whether run
from within GRASS of by itself.

Hi,

please check if r.sunmask is in the file error.log after finishing
compilation. If yes, there is something wrong with the code, so that it does
not compile on IRIX.
If no, you maybe forget to run 'gmakelinks5' after compilation/installation of
the code. Try re-running 'gmakelings5|grep sunmask' to see if the links for
the interactive and cli version are created.

HTH,

Andreas

Hi,

you will have to run

gmakelinks5 -i

Then it should be fine.

Greetings,

I will close this report as obviously no bug.
