Style Point Dialog

The style point dialog is opened when you click on a style preview in the Layer Styles panel and the geometric type of the feature class is point. The style point dialog allows you to choose a symbol type, style and orientation.

Symbol

To enable a point symbol, select a symbol type from the symbol select box. You can choose from pre-defined mark symbols, fonts, and library symbols. You can also choose not to display a symbol by selecting 'No Symbol'.

Mark symbols

Mark symbols are pre-defined by the server. You can select from the following mark symbols:

If you choose a mark symbol, you can set the width and height of the symbol.

Font symbols

You can use a true-type font character as a point symbol. Choose 'Font Symbol' from the Symbol list and then type in the font name, character to use, and size

Symbol Library

You can use a symbol from a Symbol Library as a point symbol. Choose 'Symbol Library' from the Symbol list and then choose a Symbol Libary resource, one of the symbols in the library, and its size

Style

Fill Color
Enter an 8 digit hex code (AARRGGBB) for the fill color.
Border Color
Enter an 8 digit hex code (AARRGGBB) for the border color.

Orientation

You can choose how to orient the symbol relative to its geographic location using the following properties:

Reference Point
The reference point (x and y) determines what point in the symbol is to be placed at the geographic location represented by the point. By default, a symbol is centered over its point.
Rotation
A point symbol may be rotated around its point. You may enter a rotation angle between 0 and 360 degrees, or click the [...] button to launch the expression builder to create a number expression to use as the rotation angle.

Units

Units
This controls the units used when interpreting the size of a symbol. Select from Points (72 points per inch), Millimeters, Inches or Centimeters.
Size Context
This indicates what the units are relative to. The options are map space and device space. By default device space is used.
