If you need to run the utilities on multiple files/folders, here are some 
commands that will help you:

Windows
-------

type the following at the command prompt:

::

    for %f in (*.shp) do shptree %f

or to run recursively (throughout all subfolders):

::

    for /R %f in (*.shp) do shptree %f

Linux
-----

::

    find /path/to/data -name "*.shp" -exec shptree {} \;
