Right after the
AGI GeoCommunity in Nottingham from 17th – 21st
September this year, there’s a unique opportunity to attend Free and Open Source Software for GIS – FOSS4G
– being held in the UK in 2013 for the first time. With a theme of ‘Geo for All’,
this annual event, attended by up to a thousand delegates, will showcase the
world’s leading open source GIS tools and projects, including Quantum GIS,
OpenLayers, GeoServer as well as plenty of newer packages. The provisional programme
includes case studies and introductory sessions for those new to FOSS4G, an Academic Track, as well as two
days of high-quality
workshops if you want to get your hands dirty. Add to this a hackathon
in the specially-erected GeoCamp, three evenings of entertainment and plenary
sessions featuring keynotes
some of the leading figures in the field, and you’ve got a recipe for a geo-event
