T-Shirts

Posted by Rollo Home on August 5, 2013

I've started a new discussion thread to collate all t-shirt discussions. There are - currently 3 t-shirts in the mix:
1. FOSS4G - I'm running with this, with design by Barry R. How long will the T-shirt Survey run?
2. Maptember - currently this is out to consultation to GeoCom and SoTM to see if they want some printed as well (response due by 9th August?). I think that I'm adding this to the Firelabel order (Steven - can you confirm?). Design also by Barry R.
3. Hoodies - Steven, can you confirm that you're handling this? I notice that the links are to Firelabel.

Claire, for the FireLabel orders, can I use the AGI as the billing address, and the EMCC as the delivery address?

Note: Firelabel orders need to be confirmed by the 21st August.

Barry R - a question in regard to the Maptember t-shirt. What are you thoughts to adding the three conference logo's in some manner (in mono-white I guess)? Please keep your answer polite......

Barry Rowlingson on August 5, 2013:

You know that dropbox folder I shared that has the source Inkscape SVG file on it?

Looks a chunk of work - get the logos (in high enough res), style the logos (ours looks worst for mono-fying), place the logos....

Steven Feldman on August 5, 2013:

Re hoodies

Jo has been compiling the size colour requests. We will need to send them our logo and ask for their suggestions about how they can interpret in computer driven embroidery

Abi Page on August 5, 2013:

Well you can take one off the list - someone has got back to me today and said he doesn't wear tshirts - he is in Britain...

;)

I think Addy was going to look at any design amends on the maptember shirt? I quite like it simple without the logos though.

Rollo Home on August 6, 2013:

Perhaps we should have some Maptember ties?
I'll wait to hear from Addy and/or Barry re Maptember design (re Logo), but otherwise I'll assume it remains constant.
I need to prepare Firelabel for a larger order of things......

Addy Pope on August 6, 2013:

Think the Maptember ones are ace and fine as they are. But the FOSS4G ones are a bit bold.  Logos are huge. Do we want/need them to be that bold?

Claire Gilmour on August 6, 2013:

AGI address is fine for billing and EMCC for delivery.

If they can use the attached delivery note that would be fab

Jo Cook on August 7, 2013:

Hi All,

Do we have a confirmed cost for the FOSS4G t-shirts yet? Trying to get a complete picture of the finances for goodies...

Jo

Rollo Home on August 7, 2013:

No, not until we have the sizes and numbers confirmed (Friday call - which I may not be able to make TBC. Being dragged into a 'workshop').

Steven Feldman on August 7, 2013:

I can provide a summary of size mix when required.

We have now had 230 responses so should be a good sample (Barry R may be able to add some wisdom and R-ness to that)

Re quantities -
  • We are at 645 delegates including sponsors and comps. We will need to take a guess at how many delegate shirts we want to order. My hunch is that we could get to 750 delegates so i would go for about 10% over on shirts, say 820
  • Abi can have a shot at how many delegate shirts we need but we should add in a contingency for a few extras
  • We have absolute numbers for conference team, need to check sizes, presumably the same as for hoodies? Suggest 2 t-shirts for each member of conference team (plus a delegate one) will allow us to kitted out and odour free on all 3 main days or inc workshop days if we do a bit of in-room laundry

Rollo Home on August 7, 2013:

Then it's just a question of numbers:
  • LOC: 16 (I need to get exact size. Email sent with link to on-line form)
  • Volunteers: 80? (currently have 66 signed up - Abi, I propose to use the size mix as for the delegate shirts)
  • Delegates: 820 + 32 extra for LOC (852)

For Maptember:
  • FOSS underwritten: 175
  • AGI underwritten: 75
  • SoTM underwritten: no response yet?

For LOC hoodies:
  • Jo to supply exact numbers/styles/sizes (asap please)

Abi Page on August 7, 2013:

If possible, I would like to give you a better idea of sizes than the standard mix for volunteers - since it is a smaller batch I think there is more risk of getting off sizes.

I can give you an update on Friday on what I have.... where is the 66 coming from? If on the tshirt list, then there were some names on there I don't recognize as volunteers....

Also, will day pass / students also get delegate t shirts ?

Abi

Rollo Home on August 8, 2013:

66 came from what I understood was your current total for volunteers. But you tell me what you need in terms of numbers.

In regard to sizes can you ask them to fill in form (with the "I am" type as "volunteer") ASAP please (I really need to sort this this w/e). I will work out a separate percentage ratio for sizes. But note this will still not be a guarantee that they will get the correct size...it's too risky to make that commitment IMHO.

Abi Page on August 8, 2013:

I have asked them all to do that but some have already completed just as a delegate, some the names on there are not volunteers... so I will sort through it.
My ideal would be to definitely order those that are confirmed volunteers the correct size and then a mix of spares. I believe the gender mix for the volunteers will be a different % than delegates. I'm not expecting you to sort this out for me, I will update tomorrow.

Jo Cook on August 8, 2013:

I'm waiting for responses on hoodies from Peter Batty and Gary Gale- regardless of what they go for it's going to be the single-colour vintage rather than the two-colour retro- do you think it will be OK to go for a mix of colours as well as sizes?

Rollo Home on August 8, 2013:

Abi - thanks. I'll wait for your numbers/sizes mix. Cheers for that.
Jo - I don't think that colour/size changes has any impact on price. These are done individually.

Jo Cook on August 8, 2013:

Rollo OK- I'll let you know as soon as I have responses from Gary and Peter- if we don't have something by Friday I suggest we just guess (Men's Large for Peter, Medium for Gary?)- sizes and colour prefs are at https://docs.google.com/a/astuntechnology.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsG7QYXpWgk7dFUtRzlNdzZkSVNzUUdCOFU2ekNHN1E#gid=2 though people who wanted the two-colour version haven't expressed a preference for colour...

Rollo Home on August 22, 2013:

Barry,

Can I confirm the fonts used in the t-shirts?
Maptember: Sans-Serif?
FOSS: ?
I'm hoping that they are standard enough that I don't need to supply a FNT (or what ever) file - but if so, can you supply?

Barry Rowlingson on August 22, 2013:

All the text should have been converted to paths. Fonts shouldn't be needed. If they are, then I need to redo the files with the fonts converted to paths...

Rollo Home on August 22, 2013:

I'll pass that on - can you tell me what the fonts are supposed to be (I'd hate them to use Arial ;-)

Barry Rowlingson on August 22, 2013:

maptember uses FreeSans, foss4g uses Vegur, but I think that's been stroked out of the PDF. The maptember PDF may have FreeSans embedded in it, depending on exactly which file you sent them!

Rollo Home on August 23, 2013:

T-shirt proof from FireLabel. Please comment.

Barry Rowlingson on August 23, 2013:

Its the 'gecommunity' and all lower case version. Oops.

Rollo Home on August 26, 2013:

So apart from the eagle eyed Barry, no one else spotted my deliberate mistake then? No?
This is going back first thing tomorrow morning (i.e. before 8am).

Abi Page on August 26, 2013:

I thought they all looked really good -  the designs on the ladies looked like they had quite a bit of space around them (ie image is smaller) in comparison to the others - but maybe there is some good reason for this since the fit is different

Addy Pope on August 26, 2013:

beyond removing significant parts of the UK in the name of art ;)

Jeremy Morley on August 26, 2013:

Yeah, London's completely gone!!

Barry Rowlingson on August 26, 2013:

Blame Messrs Peucker and Douglas!

At least we haven't done this:
