We've not been asked for a media pass by anyone - and we've not offered one.
We could offer a virtual conference, but not sure of the logistics/medium or appropriate timing considering the spread of media bods around the world.

We don't currently have any bloggers either. Is this something we want to somehow actively encourage or do we rely on this happening by itself (which it will)? It might be useful to have someone however gathering 'news' from the LOC perspective and writing a daily 'blog'. Perhaps a volunteer action? It would be fairly high profile, so potentially attractive to people.....even though it would be hard work.

Might be worth giving one press pass each to our media partners (GIS Professional, GeoConnextion etc) with condition that they write conference reports for thier publications. Will be good for the conference legacy aims.

It might be worth reminding our media sponsors that we offered a press pass as part of the conditions of them signing up- they may have forgotten!

It wasn't offered in quite that way...we stated that we had a few passes to give away to those that were prepared to 'earn' it by blogging....but we could remind them of the offer. I suspect that if they were interested, they'd have contacted us already for freebies regardless of the offer....

Can we do a mail to the press sponsors enquiring whether they will be attending in person and also asking whether a press call (simple audio thing) would be of interest?

Will do - although I might caveat the offer of 'free' tickets with some text matching our original offer....
