Editorial process for programme
Posted by Barry Rowlingson on June 7, 2013
Is there going to be an editing step for the programme abstracts?
Currently we have title, short abstract and long abstracts. There's considerable imbalance in the lengths of the abstracts. Do we need the short abstracts if we present the long abstracts on the web? Are the short abstracts long enough for the printed programme? The long abstracts are generally too long.
Is the programme team considering editing for spelling, grammar, and style to make sure the programme contains well-written English?
When I get the presentations into the database, editing will be doable through-the-web in plain text (or possibly markdown format).
I'm asking because I'm thinking forward about putting the presentations into this database...

We need them to proofread their entry here: http://2013.foss4g.org/conf/programme/proof
- before we send the text to the designer/printer.
