Linking OCS to main website prior to launch

Posted by Jo Cook on December 21, 2012

Dear Academic people,

Can we confirm the link that we're going to use for submissions for the academic track papers, so we can ensure that it's nice and prominent on the website and that we "go live" with the link on the day that you want to. Is there anything we can do to ensure that the designs of the two sites are more similar?

Thanks

Jo

Its OJS and not OCS!

OJS can be styled and skinned to within an inch of its life, the question
is how much effort and how similar we want it.

I think just getting the colours in harmony would be a good start - doing
anything like using the same background logo and having semi-transparent
text boxes could be much harder.

I'll have a look at how the styling works and try not to break the site if
I get time. Not a lot else to do for the next two weeks.

Doh! Sorry! I wouldn't worry too much about styling it identically- but it would be nice to have the same rough colour scheme, logo, etc and links between the two components.

When is "go-live" day?

He Jo, Barry,

I'll work some more on the content and especially the submission templates this week-end. If Barry gets the colours and logo right, I would imagine that by Christmas we could go live...

I guess the link would be
http://2013.foss4g.org/ojs/index.php/nottingham
(or is there some shortcut I didn't see yet, Barry?)

Barry Rowlingson on December 22, 2012:

I've uploaded a custom stylesheet to the site - it sets the background graphic, changes a few colours, fonts, and margins. Looks clearly like its related to the main site now.

I've also set FOSS4G 2013 Nottingham to be the default 'journal', so that if you go to http://2013.foss4g.org/ojs it redirects to our site.

I've just noticed there is an instance of OCS on there too - from the meeting today it seems that that isn't going to be used for the main conference papers, so I'll disable that. Tomorrow...

The OJS design looks very clear and refreshing. Thanks, Barry!
