Introduction

This documentation describes the Quantum GIS (QGIS) application. Further information on QGIS is available at http://qgis.org.

Whats new in Version 0.2

New features

  1. Simple and graduated SVG marker symbols
  2. SVG Marker library
  3. Mapcanvas is updated as features are drawn (every 1,000 features)
  4. WhatsThis? help for menus and toolbar buttons
  5. Save map canvas as an image (.png)
  6. Search radius for identifying features can be specified in the preferences dialog
  7. Splashscreen can be disabled in user preferences
  8. Raster statistics
  9. Thumbnail preview in raster properties dialog
  10. Metadata tab in raster properties dialog
  11. Internationalization for several languages
  12. Snapshot mode (invoked from command line)
  13. Command line options for loading project files/layers
  14. Currently loaded plugins are restored each time QGIS is started

  1. Delimited text plugin for creating a map layer from a set of x, y coordinates

Known Issues

  1. Vector rendering does not work on big-endian platforms (OSX, Solaris)
