Introduction

Coast is highly dynamic environment, impacted by storms and sea level rise. Over half of the world population lives in coastal regions, therefore, understanding the dynamics of this environment, especially during a period of accellerated climate change is important. New mapping technologies, such as lidar, provide time series of 3D data that can provide valuable information about changes in coastal topography, structures, and vegetation. This tutorial describes new techniques for processing and analysis of coastal elevation data time series using GRASS GIS.
