Blissfully Mild Climate

BC Parliment BuildingVictoria’s climate is “sub-Mediterranean” – that means it’s moderate all year-round. This is due to our island location, warmed by Pacific winds. Average daytime temperatures, May through September, range from 15°C (60°F) to 26°C (80°F) with lots of sunshine. From October through April average daytime temperatures range from about 4.4°C (40°F) to 15°C (60°F).

And rain? This may be the great Pacific Northwest, but with an average rainfall at 66 cm (26 in.), Victoria gets substantially less of the watery stuff than our neighbours, Vancouver 114.3 cm (45 in.) and Seattle 124 cm (49 in.), even less than Toronto and New York. This is a climate where you can golf 365 days a year – though we might recommend an umbrella during winter months. Nevertheless, the rain blesses Victoria with the spectacular gardens and flowers we are famous for.
